91 NA/AT hesitation/surging... help..

just did a tune-up using all OEM parts in hope that the hesitation that i am experiencing will go away..

here's the scenario... when i drive on a constant speed between 30-45 and my foot is just consistently pressing on the pedal, the car feels like it surging but when driving above 40, all is fine.. no surging or any hesitation...

i just replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor then oil change and new air filter...

my car only has 90k miles, NA and A/T... before i bought it 4 months ago, it was not driven for 3 years... it is all stock...

NO CEL light, electric supply is all good... any idea on what causes this?

Was it doing it before you tuned it up? Recheck all ignition components, check ignition timing, look for a vacuum leaks(maybe a craked vacuum hose). If your 02 sensor was failing you'd probably see alot of black soot in your exhaust tail pipe. It could be many things.

yes it was doing it before I did the tune up... i was hoping that tune up will solve it but no....

as for black soot, it doesnt seem to have more than the usual... the surge can only be felt when constantly moving 30-40mph...

I still say O2 sensor. You may not be seeing black soot untill it gets really bad, and at that point you'll probably get a check engine light saying bad O2 sensor. Usually if it acts like that and it's not in the ignition components, it's the O2 sensor. For an easy check, disconnect the O2 sensor. That'll give you a check engine light, but it will also put the car into safe mode, ignoring the sensors. If it runs better, change your O2 sensor, reset the computer, and you'll be golden.

I still say it sounds like ignition system or a vacuum leak as per my last post......

does it idle high? mines does the same thing bu i dont know if its because my narrow band o2 sensor is hooked to it or the car is just going bad. its idleling at around 2500 and dosent seem to have power at all. and if i stop at a light for a while the rpms kick from 2500 too 1000 and back and forth
