new turbo how to tune

Just got a new turbo installed in my 2 revision 2 but now it has to be tuned is it possible do this yourself or just bring it to specialist also boost gauge has stopped working and bov you can hardly hear it

i checked all the boost lines and dont seem to be anything loose or come undone .

also i broke the toms scoop at the weekend its the ring that you put the bolt through that holds it down that has broken is it possible get these fixed or how would u add a new eylet to it apart from using glue

thanks in advance

What turbo? Is it as bigger aftermarket turbo? If so, what are you doing about fuel enhancement and delivery?
And what do you mean by tune the turbo? You mean set the boost? You will need a boost controller of some type for that.

What BOV do you have?

Are you talking about the stock worthless boost guage? Check the vacuum line at sensor on rear wall of engine bay?
Need more info...

Use resin and fiberglass to repair Tom's scoop.

turbo

sorry for not adding all details this is my first turbo so unsure on what to describe but to answer your ?

its a standard mr2 turbo that my local garage sourced second hand ct26 i think it is.

its a baileys bov but used to work perfect before the turbo was replaced

no its an aftermarket boost gauge

no boost controler fitted and boost seems to be turned down as low as it can go as car is def not as powerful as it used to be so is it a hrd job to fit a boost controller or best leave to the pros

toms scoop i best drop it into body shop to get it done properly as dont want to go messing and screw it up.

You shouldn't have to do any tuning to re fit a stock CT26 turbo. Sounds like the pressure and vacuum lines were not hooked up right. Was the turbo rebuilt?
Installing a OEM CT26 is a simple proceedure. I'd find a different mechanic. One who knows what they're doing.

ripping off and reinstalling is not a easy task. What I do agree with is if your not changing any fuel there is no need to tune. You can even boost over stock and there is still no reason to tune are cars are pig rich from stock. Also I agree with checking your vacum lines there not hard at all to chase. You can do that yourself and you dont need a shop. If you have the time and tool you can rip off the turbo and reinstall yourself but again its a pain in the arse Ive ripped mine off three times and its still a pain.

Godd luck

Installing/removing the CT26 at home is not all that difficult.(but yeah, a pain) Should be simple for a tech in a descently equiped commercial garage with a lift and air rachet. Alot of places around here don't even wanna touch the MR2. Many that do will take short cuts and do a 1/2 ass job.

I agree not as hard if you own or work in a shop but im being realistic. I meant when I do in my garage with out a lift. Also same thing here you ask anyone about working on the car and they will either tell you no which means they know what they are doing or sure which usually means they have never worked on one and are going to screw up the car. I wish I had a lift I would never leave my garage ask my girl she has enough problems getting me out of it now . But in the end if your asking about tuning a stock turbo your obviously a newbie to the car. Sorry no offense.
