easiest in an AW11 is that the E series have intake side starters, C series have exhaust side starters.
After that..... axles are different, size is different.... but all bolt-holes are the same and mounts are nearly identical.....
also... the E series has a hardline that loops out and back into the trans... about 5" total length.... found on the exhaust side of the transmission. C series doesn't have anything like this.

Thanks
trying to figure out what I have, tittle say 85 (no rear sway bar) black/red top (covers interchange(?)) 5.5 rims, cruise control, trunk air filter...if is an old swap very well done no traces like scufs elecrtrical wiring etc ..I like to call it for now eightyfivenine..or could be younger? to top it off I just fell in love with it, no clue about the MR@'s other that look alot of fun to drive.
Oh yeah, supercharged, no decal outside, no side groun effect either
[quote=toyotaspeed90;2717578]if it's an 85 then it wasn't supercharged from the factory.
any photos?
I guess you read to fast but I thank you for showing interest, the swap include a fiberglass/plastic (black, the car is silver) engine bay cover (hood) with the supercharger engine nomeclature stickers in it..for what I have learned (in the last few days) 85 came with rear sway bar and no C control but definatly is an 85 and presumably a donor car was involved..on a side note i didn't see much room under for a sway bar ..how will sound with out the giant mufler across the back? biass about it since I kind of enjoy the "looser" appearance.. if you know what I mean
Now that I see that you said 'trunk air filter'..... body is an 87+..... someone attempted to swap vins.... check in the front trunk.... it's hard to swap that vin # unless someone drilled and re rivited a new vin plate in.
A trunk air filter wasn't available in the pre 87's.... there is a ~3" hole with pieces that bolt to the rear firewall that allow the tubes to connect.... if the stock stuff is all in place then there's no way it's a pre87. On top of that, if the engine wiring comes in through the middle of the rear firewall (opposed to directly next to the alternator) then it's for sure an 87+ and someone has done something funny with titles.

Interesting..the car is off the ramps now so i didn't see much from above and in semi dark but I can clearly see the intercooler attach to the wall via two brackets that are definitely OEM welded..do they came in 85? are there to hold the NA air filter also ?

absolutely not. Factory S/C's were only available in 1988 and 1989. Chasis is slightly different and wiring is different (which would require cutting through the rear firewall to use the stock s/c wiring harness without modification to the harness).
84-86's have the air filter in the engine bay, all 87-89's have it in the trunk, both n/a and SC.

"84-86's have the air filter in the engine bay, all 87-89's have it in the trunk, both n/a and SC."
clear on that, now: the two L shaped metal tabs welded to the wall (engine bay/trunk) that hold the intercooler in place, are the same tabs that hold the n/a air filter? (same tabs for both applications?)
If they are NOT present on 85-86 it make for a quick diagnosis..
toyotaspeed90:
you were right from the beginning, me not able to follow, last nite took off the the "upholstered" panel in the trunk to find the ECU right in center of wall, OEM hole leading main wiring NEXT to it AND the 3 inch OEM hole for the air filter with unmolested parafanelia..never give much about the filter location b'cause anyone one can make a hole but this is starting to look 88-89 or at least the rear half is LOL..the front dam is 85 and the antenna is on the roof (?)
I still don't know if C 52 or E11 but is my fault (not able to get down the car to look as per your tips) Thanks for the patience
