its outside right now. i have a few questions though. the car has a blow off valve. it doesnt idle rough, but when you are driving at like 2500rpm and push in the clutch, the rpms go back down, but it drops too low sometimes and dies... is it running too rich with the bov? the bov has a hose coming from it and going to the intake manifold, but it still vents to the outside. also, the car kinda pulls to the left, and when you go in reverse, then stop and go forward, theres a small clunking feeling in the front. is it misalignment, or is something seriously wrong? when im goin about 50-60mph, theres a little vibration from the steering wheel if that helps any. unless the whole car is screwed, i dont really care whats wrong with it. for once in a long time, it feels good to drive again.
If you "just" got it, i'd recommend taking it to a good Toyota dealership for full scheduled maintenance, they'll check everything including the alignment, also change ur timing belt if you need it... Also consider changing the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor.
Alot of cars have mild vibration from the steering wheel...
yeah, i already knew that lachean, but thanx. i found that out a month ago when i first posted in here. im not planning on keeping it anyway. i actually dont like the bov noise anyway. it irritates me. but i was wondering about the other issues. maybe ill take a couple pics of it. if someone can host them, ill post them in here. i love the car either way. but the bov takes a really long time to relieve the pressure. like 1-1.5 seconds. way too long. i think when i hit the gas again that boost may be leaking out, so i really want to get rid of the bov.
its a blitz bov. the weird thing is(now im relying on the stock boost gauge) when i drive normally, the needle on the boost gauge is always at the very bottom, but the car feels like its spooling, but like a second later, the boost goes up to the top of the guage, and when the bov releases the pressure, it takes like 2 seconds to totally release the pressure. i think the bov is adjusted to make the cool sound, so it engages when you let off the throttle at 2500rpm. i think the spring is too lose. would that be why i have these problems?
another idea. the dude who sold me the car said its been 3500 miles, so the oil needs to be changed again. since i was planning on changing it, i was thinking about using seafoam. anyone used this? i have used it on the skyline, and the car ran like new. it shouldnt give the mr2 any problems should it? also, the guy always uses synthetic. this is probably a dumb question, but is synthetic fine to use?
god, i hope thats what it is. cause i wanna make this an auto x car, so im planning on changine the susp anyway. im tryin to talk to a friend of mine in japan and get them to get me a set of hks hipermax susp from yahoo auctions jp
I have a Blitz BOV but ive never had any problems with it. check your lines make sure they are correct and also maybe try adjusting the BOV. about the vibration i had the same problem i took it for a full balance and alignment and its gone. i use synthetic and it works for me.
yeah, i adjusted the bov. it does alot better now, but the guage doesnt move untill after i hit the clutch and it purges. but when it does, it moves more fluidly. thanx
