i cant get my 91t to idle any lower than about 1500-1700 rpm. when i retard the distributor, rpm's drop to about 1200 but the car has no power when driven. i have the idle control screw turned all the way to the right (clockwise). any suggestions???

Maybe try cleaning your throttlebody.

Hi Jesse, sounds like you have a vacuum leak. The reason your car is idling high is that the engine is sucking in air from somewhere after the throttle body. Common places can include the inlet manifold gasket, cold start injector plate, and any vacuum hose that is connected to the inlet manifold. An easy way to find it is to get yourself a can of carby cleaner, start the car, let it warm up, then go to town spraying around the throttle body, cold start injector, inlet manifold, fuel rail, pretty much anywhere AFTER the throttle body. When the carb cleaner is sucked in by the leak, the engine speed will slow down and you should be able to hear this.

I would urge CAUTION driving your car with a leak like that. You could get a lean condition that can overheat your engine and cause damage to your pistons/turbo.
