2nd Generation mr2 jdm 3sgte swap

hi im new to the forum and you guys have probably heard this question alot, im planing on getting an MR2 MKII and doing a jdm 3sgte MKIII and i was wondering i if i would be able to repin the harness and if i could how many wires are we looking at changing if i get the jdm ecu and uncut harness, and last but not least what trans would i be albe to run that can take about 300hp or as close to it as i can get bc im planing on putting a manual boost controler and upping the boost from a stock 12psi to wherever i can get it to using an SAFC, Y-band O2.

there is a lot of questions in there, you would be better off just getting a turbo mr2. If you are still going to do a swap, I personally have and it was a long drawn out nightmare. Your going to need to make sure you get everything with your swap. Im talking engine, ecu, harness, new fuel pump, clutch, transmission, rear axles(you will need both sides of the rear axle either machined ones to fit the turbo tranny and the NA wheel hubs, or need to swap the wheel hubs/wheels, not exactly sure as I got machined ones from an MR2 vendor), exhaust system, intercooler, some kind of intake(even if its just a filter and hose from auto zone), and this is assuming everything else on your car is in good working order. most notably your cooling system. Im sure im even forgetting stuff but like I said, just buy a turbo mr2 if that is your end goal.
About repinning your ecu, I dont think I understand what you are asking. If you would like I can take a picture of mine in the trunk. Everything was wired using pin and wire diagrams, and spliced. I dont know how it works, I just know the shop eventually got it going and there are like half the wires just capped off not connected to anything. And thats using the jdm ecu and harness. and just so you know, an uncut one still comes cut off on the wires that connect to the chasis.
about power, I suggest reading the power primer
http://www.mrcontrols.com/primers/power.htm
its not as easy as just turning up the boost... and the mr2 3s is a very easy engine to get more power out of. The 3s-gte 2nd gen with the ct26 and its fuel system will fall short of your goal. gen3 should be able to hit that with its larger injectors and ct20b, but when you push things, things start breaking unless all maintenance and other supporting mods are working properly.
bottom line, do a lil more research before undertaking this project.

suggested threads to check out, search for anyone who did swaps. mine was
turbo swap
and the power primer. everyone goal is different, and the purpose also changes what power you want. auto cross. drag. track. drift. also look into people who have already gone the path that you want and ask them questions as well.

If you go on MR2.com there's a member (MR220v) who makes wiring harnesses for people doing swaps (beams, 3sgte, and v6...I think). You can ask him how much. A lot of members there are very happy with the work he does.

thanks mooglex, i work in a performance shop and i know it not just as easy as just turning up the boost, i would have to see what injectors i would be running also the wideband O2 and the SAFC would be the things i would need to turn up the boost and with the wideband and the SAFC i would be able the tune my A/F ratio to make sure its running right. Also for the axles, where would i be able to get them or what car would i be able to get them from? and what transmission would i be able to bolt up to the engine the would be able to take 300hp.

the stock 3s transmission will handle it no problem, if you get a genIII motor, make sure you get one with LSD. The 3s and 5s use different axles/transmissions, look up Josh@ chico raceworks. he makes custom axles that fit the NA wheel hubs and fit the 3s transmission. Also the GenIII injectors will get you to 300hp as long as everything is in good working order. just make sure you replace the fuel pump as the N/A body fuel pump will not keep up even under stock levels of performance on the 3s.
toyota has a thing called TVIS which is designed to restrict airflow at lower rpms, and open for more flow at higher RPMs, around 4200 iirc. Its a cheap fix to change that and is covered in the power primer. also stock fuel cut is around 12psi. you will need to raise that as well if you want to turn up the boost.
pick up some NGK spark plugs and ask one of these other knowledgeable guys if you will need a new fuel pressure regulator or not.

edit: upgrading the exhaust, as you will need a new one anyway, and the intercooler as well.

im sure it is easier, but its also a lot of extra money up front. with an endless supply of daily drivers running a wholesale business, i was without my mr2 for like four months before it even started. (lots of time spent waiting for parts... or money) and was longer before it was actually running good and streetable(legally anyway lol) ive been lazy, been meaning to do a write up... maybe it will be made a sticky ^^
