1991 MR2 U.S 3sgte problem

this is my second Mr2 (YAY) anyway im having a problem when the engine is just turned on and i try floring it it kinda pulls back a bit i hope thats normal.. now when its warmed up and all i cant rev it more than 5000 rpms it just sputters can go over 5000 even without floring it... will a fuel cut defenser help me out? plz help....

well a turbo car running crappy when its cold is normal but the sputtering could just be spark plugs.

i replaced them... guy said he gapped them correctly thats the 2nd time i change them actually..... what should they be calibrated at?.... and what about the 5000 rpms cut? any clue? thanks in advance.....

I would start with a complete ignition tune up. Cap, rotor, new spark plug wires, check timing.
Fuel cut doesn't kick in until 12 psi boost. At only 5000rpm, you're probably not hitting that.

if you are stock, plug gap is .030

DON'T DO THAT! Wait until the coolant gauge is at least a quarter of the way up before giving it heavy throttle. Revving it hard when it's cold is very bad for the engine.

Do you have a stock turbo and stock boost level?

Has it ever revved over 5k since you've owned it?

What happens when you get near 5k RPMs?

im at 14 psi but even on 5 psi i would get the same thing happened..... thats what i have now

i have new cap,spark plugs, and spark plug wires already but i havent done the ignition tune up yet.... and yeah thats where they are gapped at... thanks

Except for setting ignition timing, that is a tune up..I don't see rotor in your list.
Check all IC hoses and connections.
So you do have a boost gauge? How are you controlling boost?

Did you loosen/remove the distributor when you changed the cap?

ive done nothing to the rotor.... im sorry but what rotor do you refer?
yes i have a boost gauge... and i have a boost controler...

yeah stock ct26


ive never been able to get it to go over 5 rpms

it just feels like it putters it wont go over 5k
