1MF-FE Max Theoretical Boost? E153?

I"m dropping a 1MZ-FE in my MR2, and planning on building the bottom end for serious boost... My question is does anyone know what the max boost for the stock sleeves is, I really don't wanan have to save another month to get it resleeved if its not nessisary. . I have a 1000CFM Vortec SC, and I"m hopin to get 550+ outta the V6. . Any one have experience boosting on the 1MZ or have any link with good info on the 1MZ?

Also what year did they 1MZ Come with VVTi ??

Last question, I keep reading that the new 99+ E153 tannies are alot better than the old 93+ from the MR2 Turbo.. so what car From 99+ has the E153, and how difficult is it to change the linkage from FWD configuration to RWD ?

Thanks
Chris ..

3SGTE VS 1MZ-FE

I agree the 3SGTE can easilly make the 500HP, but. . . The 1MZ-FE are more readily available, they are cheaper, they are lighter, they are more compact, and most importantly, they will move the car faster than a 3SGTE at comparable HP because under boost they'll make a SH1T load more tourque.. . Horsepower sells products and sevices, Tourque is what actually moves your vehicle.. Easy example.. compare a 3000LBS Car, with a 300HP 350 Small Block (V8) VS a 300HP LS (Honda I4) motor in the same 3000LBS car.. -> which ones gonna go faster??

Considering the weight of an MR2, I think the tourque of the V6 will make a significant difference. .

Just my theory.. . ; )

okay..sure u can get the engine fairly cheap...but now factor in the costs of doing the conversion....what tranny will u be using...re-wiring the entire car....its not a straight swap....thats the point i'm trying to get at.....it will prolly cost u more than u think....

possibly but I think it'll be about the same

Well anyone goin for 500HP or more should have Engine managment so wirings the same either way .. As far as trannies go, from what I'm learning I can run either the older E153 from the 93+ MR2 turbo, or the E153 from the 99+ Solara which is supposed to be greatly improved. . I found a E153 for $450 from a 2000 , I found a 2001 1MZ-FE for $800 with all sensors only 42,000 miles on it. . Thats already way cheaper than tryin to find a 3SGTE. . Doin the swap is not a direct fit but my best friend owns PYR Racing www.pyrracing.com so he can do any fabrication of mounts for the cost of materials. . Other than that I don't see any other obsticals, at least nothing substantial ..

I coudl be wrong but I'm hard headed so I'm gonna try it anyways.. ; )
