3sgte 5sgte

ok im trying to do some research on the 5sgte and am wondering if i should build it off the 5sfe block or the 3sgte blockim wanting to fully build the engine so i will be buying pistons cams vavles rods and ect but the engine is planned to go in to a mk1 so im wondering if the 5sfe block is much bigger than the 3sgte because space is an isue in this swap. So should i put the 5sfe cank in the 3sgte and build from their or just build up the 5s block with 3sgte head

Also i heard that a 3sgte angine will bolt to a 4age tranny
and im pretty sure it does because a 5sfe is in camry's and 20v 4age's go in those right

any info on 5sgte engines would be gtratley appriciated

Not positive but...

I'm not positive but I belive the concept of the 5SGTE is to have a 5SFE bottom end and a 3SGTE top end. If you used the bottom end of a 3SGTE and the top end of a 5SFE you would have..... i don't know, a 3SFE? (i just made that up, dont quote me). My point being... GTE stands for G = Twin Cam, T = Turbo, E = Injected, and if you had the top end of a 5S-FE, you would be missing that small piece.... the turbo.

technically its called a stroked 3s-gte because your still using the 3rd version on the S family series of blocks.

both ways are done. 5sgte is out there as well. Full 5S block with GTE head, and a stroker kit for 3sgte. 5S crank and custom rods and pistons to make a 2.2L 3sgte.
