Speedo cable

ignition cylindar
Id like to know what I could swap out to give the engine a little more power without wasting too much money. Ive read a little about a 20valve engine swap and it sounds like the way to go. But im still a noob so I dont know too much yet.
Thanks for your help!

Haha, that sounds familiar! I bought my '86 with a bad DS window motor, alternator and speedo cable. Later chewed off the antenna. No fun, those. Make sure you get a quality alternator, mfr. rebuilt if you can afford it - replacing crappy aftermarket remans gets really old, really fast(I'm on my third in a year, including one that lasted a week).
I think I'd try Ebay before a dealership, at least for interior/trim parts.
Um, aside from that... the 20V is my swap of choice too, I'm set to start in about a month, or as soon as my friends pay me back the $750 I've lent out :p I'm 99% certain to be ordering a motor set through
http://www.venus-auto.com, unless I can find a better deal.
I had initially wanted to do a GZE swap, but decided that my engine bay is crowded enough as it is without a supercharger and intercooler thrown in there too. Once I found out about the 20V, though, and how relatively cheap and direct the swap can be, I was sold. The one caveat, I think, is emissions - I worry that I won't be able to pass without EGR. Anyway, if you live in a part of OK which does not require emissions testing, you're golden... otherwise, it'd be wise to look up some info before deciding.
The bar-none best 20V(and general Mk1) how-to site I've come across is at
http://www.padandwheels.com. Check out
http://www.clubmr2.com,
http://www.racingstrong.com and
http://www.board.mr2faq.com, if you haven't yet.
http://www.twosrus.com sells some quality replacement parts - I've gotten a nice shift kit, window gear, shifter boot and engine cover strut kit from them, plus a set of brass shift linkage bushings(not installed yet), and everything has been top-notch quality.
Best of luck!
