3sgte Cost

I plan on getting a 91' NA Mr2 and not likeing the performance on the stock engine. I heard the engine swap is fairly common. I was wonder about how much will i be paying for the total of the finished product after buying engine, shipping, and labor of install?

There are many reasons why i wouldn't just get a turbo kit rather then the swap. First of all the NA motor has 140,000 miles on it when the 3sgte has around 20,000. I want it to last me through college. More importantly I want to aventually get 350+ hp out of then engine and from what Ive seen all the mr2s reaching that have a 3sgte swap. Theoretically Id think i would be getting not only a turbo but a whole engine rather than just getting a turbo. So how much would the transformation be?

Getting a shop to do the swap you'd spend more on parts and labor than you can buy a factory turbo car for.

The mr2 I'm looking at is $3,000 and all the mr2 turbos Ive seen average around $10,000. So your telling me the 3sgte is going to cost about $7,000!

I bought an MR2turbo for a parts car for $2000 Shop around, hit autotrader. I didn't know my car had been offered for $3000 as a complete car before the stripping began. Deals are out there, but to get one you have to hunt for it.

My swap is supposed to cost around $3000 installed. I think the rear clip is somewhere around (maybe a little less than) $2,000. The rest is installation.
