Jeez..ditto with my wife's 89 S/C? pulled in friday said she had to turn off car to get it in 1st, super hard to shift gears without RPM matching (she's my co-driver too).
Like yours, no fluid problems, throw-out bearing and lever seemed to work just great.
Turns out the clutch disc hub was moving ever so slightly inside the disc itself. The rubber plugs used in the OEM disc center section to take up starting forces had hardened and shattered over 2 decades! and allowed all this movement. (doesn't take much)
Since our cars are S/C'd it was no fun to drain the tranny and pull the axles but I found a defective axle bearing in the process and consider myself lucky I was able to take care of both problems at the same time.
BTW be sure to get a disc with springs in the center of the disc, if you want hi-perf? get the type that have dual springs.

Car runs fine but after driving it for a while it does not want to shift up or down. The clutch is good on the peddle with no slippage at all. I replaced the bushings at the trans with solid one and also the shifter mounting bushings.
Is it possible that the shifter itself is toast? Perhaps I should check the hydraulics? No grinding or any other noticeable problems.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
