Glad to see you resolved the alternator problem. Did you know your belt squeeling and the alternator problem are from the same mis-engineered vent location in the engine cover on the N/A cars?
Yep, peer down the pass side engine cover vent and look and see where the water goes goes.
Now consider that the N/A cars (which are different than the S/C cars) have a voltage regulator also stuck in the alternator housing and presto, an electrical nightmare on elm street.
This kind of engineering is why America won World War 2.
I've added fiberglass diverters on the bottom of the engine cover to resolve this problem. PM me with a email address and I'll sent some pictures of this super easy cure.
Ah.. kind of curious how your wiper "thing" worked out for you, other than just killing the wipers all together?
