Tire Size?

I am about to get rims and tires for the 91 Na mr2 i just bought and i obviously want the back tires to be wider than my front. So, I was wondering how wide of tires (on 18" rims) can i put in the rear without alot of modication (a.k.a cost alot of money)?

*edit*

Wait can I even fit 18 inch rims on my mr2?

u can fit 18s no problems....any wider then 235s in size...n u will have rubbing issues depending on what suspension setup ur car has....go with a 9" wide rim if ur going with 18s....but they will slow u down....go with 17s would prolly be better unless u really want the bling...

I had 18" wheels in 255/35 in the rear of my MKII for about half a year and it fit fine. It was a rough ride though and there isn't much sidewall so a bent rim is always around the corner, they're also heavier which can affect handling. 17s are probably the best compromise of performance and looks on the MKII. I find 17s look larger than they are because the car and beltline is low, especially in the front where the fender leaves a great looking bump in the lines of the car which accentuates the wheel well.

IMO, 18s are pushing the bling-bling effect overboard and I did not notice ANY difference when I went to 245/40-17s in the rear (except a nicer ride).

Stock '91 suspension, no rubbing, no rolling of fenders. Offset was ET45 which did the trick.
