Fuel Gauge Issue

I've had this issue ever since I bought my 89 S/C 7 years ago. When I fill up the gas tank the fuel gauge needle doesn't go all the way full. Any ideas of the issue? Is it most likely the sender in the gas tank or the gauge? It's not a big deal but I would like to fix it. Thanks for any help!

try using some BG 44K and a full tank of fuel. put the 44K in a full tank of fuel and let the car sit as long as you can (overnight at least). the 44K will help to cut the gum and varnish from the fuel sender (well most of the time). if it's too far gone, then i guess replacement is the only way. the 44K helped with this same issue on a few of my Toyota vehicles.

What is BG 44K? I don't recognize the product. Should I add it to a full tank or add it to an empty tank & than fill it up & let it sit? I'm hoping that it will work as I'm sure replacing the sender is a pain and may be expensive. Thanks!

you can add it either way. (my opinion). it's not cheap, though! i've seen it going for between $16-25 a can. cheaper than replacement of the fuel sender, though! hope it works out for you!
works really well for me! usually do it once a year for each vehicle. i also use RedLine SL-1 for maintenance.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered some and after reading about it I bought several cans to use in my various cars. Boy I hope this works! I'll let you know how it goes!

Please post up if this solves the problem. I have a similar issue with the gas gauge in my '84 Celica.

I will for sure. My father-in-law was also telling me he has the same issue with his Ford Ranger so I'm going to try that also on his truck.

Well, it's been 48 hours since I put in the BG 44K but my fuel gauge needle hasn't gone all the way to full yet. It's got a full tank but the needle won't go past about 7/8's of a tank. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that it will pop up all the way. I'll keep checking every day & I'll post anything that changes.
