SW20 and SW22(never heard of an SW22) are chassis codes , not engines codes.
If your '91 is not turocharged, then it's a SW21 with a normally aspirated 2.2 ltr 5sfe engine.
The SW20 comes with the 2.0 ltr Turbocharged 3sgte engine.
This subject has been discussed many, many times here. Use the search and you will find quite a bit of info here.
Besides the complete engine and tranny, you will need:
The ECU,
A complete wiring harness,
The Turbo
Water lines
Oil Lines
Intercooler piping and couplings
Intercooler & fan
Down pipe and exhaust
Boost sensor
The fuel pump
I'm not sure about the axles.
Maybe some of the others guys can tell you that or you can do the search.

thats a yes on the axles(well, you can get new axles AND wheel hubs, or buy machined axles that fit the SW21 wheel hubs), transmission, clutch, and intake(even if its just a cone filter from autozone), possibly more, been a long time since my swap.

in the U.S. there are two different chassis codes, SW21 for the MR2 N/A model and SW22 for the MR2 Turbo model, as opposed to the usual SW20 reference. there is no sw20's in the USA.

to the OP, what does your VIN say? here is an example VIN pulled of ebay motors. JT2SW21M4M0008735 the chassis code is SW21 as it is american market 2.2 5s-fe model mr2. a turbo one would be JT2SW22XXXXXXXXX.

edit: just some spelling and stuff

Hey Scott,
You know, every reference to the MR2 turbo is always SW20. It's at the top of this forum, in my BGB CD manual,in the OEM parts data base, in all the ads I see for aftermarket parts, even when I go to the parts store(O'Reilly's, NAPA, Etc.).
But I just checked my vin# and it says SW22 !

Even the Toyota reference guide lists the MR2 this way:
MR2 2.2L 91-95
Chassis Code: SW21
Engine Code: 5S-FE

MR2 2.0L Turbo 91-95
Chassis Code: SW20
Engine Code: 3S-GTE

WTF ? This is the 1st time I've seen this.

My apologies to the OP.

But this is the only way turbo model is referenced. Though thats really incorrect.

Thanks for the correction Scott
