MR2 motorcycle hybrid exhaust

I thought you N/A 1.8L MR2 guys might appreciate this. I thought it was a great idea and I'm going to build one for my 1.5L Tercel.

My girlfriends stepdad was looking for a good low-tone aftermarket exhaust for his spider and didn't have any luck. He said he was having trouble finding one that would fit in the limited space that sounded good, so he went and got a motorcycle glasspack. He just welded it on backwards and it sounds fricking GREAT! He said all-in-all it only cost about $30 bucks (he cut and welded everything himself)

Sorry I don't have alot of details, but again, I just thought I would share with you mid-rear guys and maybe give you an idea that you may or may not have already heard.

*by "exhaust" I meant "muffler"....sorry

yeah, autocrossers have used SuperTrapp for years. they are very similar to a Kerker motorcycle muffler, but have a U.S.F.S. approved spark arrestor and are able to be 'tuned' for each different track situation.

right on, like I said I didn't know if this was a new thing or not, and I don't know if that's exactly what he did. I had never heard of it before, just thought I would share.

it's all good! it's just back information your way. motorcycle exhaust tends to sound like an angry hornet's nest on a car!

so i shouldnt use the brand new stock r6s pipe i just got handed for free??? i guess i will have to do a write up. prolly putting it back on the road next week so, if i do, i'll bring my good camera and take a ton of pics/video. i want quiet, with a low tone we'll see. my 180 into the muffler rotted off again, 3rd time, everything else is still stock (as far as exhaust)

Back when I had my MK1 Supra I used a motorcycle exhaust off a R6, it would whistle between shifts, I ended up cutting the end of it off and pulling all the packing out of it. I also had a Magnaflow muffler under the car coming off the cat. Sounded great, looked great. Wrap it in exhaust wrap and paint it flat black.

Enjoy.

Gen1 Street and track-able muff

As a Corner Worker for SCCA and the AMA I noticed SuperTrapps on race bikes back in 91-92. I installed one in a straight pipe setup on my 89 SC.

One of the advantages for me as a DD/racecar guy is that I can remove the baffles at the end of the stainless steel case and the car is open exhausted.
When raceday is over, baffles go back on in 5 mins.

Being stainless steel, and not cheapee chrome, the muffler is still in use 18 years later (it has a rebuildable interior).

BTW in 18 years I never got a "loud" ticket either.
