Does anyone know where I can get one? I've seen them on some MK1 S/C's but I can't seem to find one for me. Thanks for any leads!

they pop-up every now and then. cusco makes one, but they are prety pricey for what they are especially since they do flex a little! make one! i've been looking at alternate place for attachment.

If a used is OK, PM mr2tim. He has tons of 1st Gen parts. He may have one.
Tell him I sent you.
PM sent! Thanks!

I'll have to ask see. One of my friends from school, her husband is a machinist & has some killer metal fab tools.

I've been looking at materials to make one. I've found some heavy duty tubular steel and plating. It'll be heavier than what you buy, but it will not flex.

how about some aluminium tube or if you really like steel, some monel? steel is great for the mounting plates. suffice to say 1/4" steel plate is overkill for the mounting plates. ask me how i know...

I was asking my neighbor about it as he in in constuction & has welding tools. He thinks it would be pretty easy to do.

Hey SuperchargedMR2, was mr2tim able to help you with the strut bar? Just curious.
Not at this time, but thanks for the tip. I did tell him you sent me. I'm looking at having my neighbor make me one!

There is a guy, by the moniker of Fishboi, on MR2oc.com that is selling the Cusco non-sc version for $90, which is a very good price. I got one from him, and am very happy with it, although you do need to tweak the underside of the engine lid ever so slightly in two places to keep it from hitting the stut bar brackets when you close the lid, but that wasn't a big problem.

So long and thanks for all the fish!
if you're looking to purchase the $170 cusco rear strut brace that goes under the intercooler, i'd suggest to NOT purchase it. it offers virtually 0 suspension rigidity. but, it does offer bling factor.
in order to make a really good, and rigid, brace of any kind, you want as few bends as possible. because of the placement of the intercooler in the aw11, unless you relocate the intercooler lower (or do a customer setup), you cannot put a straight brace in there.
---
also, the NA brace is F'N AWESOME! it locks the rear of the suspension in very firm! and yes, i have one on my aw11. the only way i can describe the feeling of having the rear brace in is as such:
without the brace, the rear end felt very washy and sluggish.
with the rear brace, the rear was solid, planted, reactive and predictable.

If I can find one before getting around to making one than I was thinking of having my neighbor triangulate it to make it really strong & solid.

i recently bought one of the 'engineered' rear braces for the SC, and i can say that i am NOT impressed. the placement (my opinion) is less than stellar. i would sell it, but i sort of want to keep the mounting plates so that i won't have to fabricate some (getting lazy in my old age!). i would have to modify the hell out of them, though!
