2nd Generation MR2 braking problem...

Hi, I'm new and I just want to start off by saying that this is a great website!

So, let me see if I can put you in the driver seat of my 91 MR2 (turbo).
The car is basically stock. I installed a short shifter and lowering springs. That's it.

My problem is when braking, when I start to slow down specifically for a stop sign/light the brakes feel like they lose pressure but ONLY if there's some kind of bump or uneven surface on the road near making the complete stop. The brake pedal doesn't go to the floor or fade at all. It actually gets stiff. Kinda feels like when the vacuum line is disconnected from the brake booster.

But it only does it at that particular time of braking. Every other time I step on the brakes there's no problem. I do some high speed driving every once and a while and the car brakes beautifully.

I tried bleeding the brakes and noticed that I don't have a lot of pressure coming out of the front calipers. People keep suggesting the proportioning valve but it just doesn't seem logical to me...I just can't put the two together.

So any advise from MR2 enthusiasts would be greatly appreciated.

hmmmm, so many things to consider! have you tried compressing the calipers? also, try a serious inspection: check the lubricity of the caliper slide bushings and inspect the pads for glazing while you are in there. you need to check your brake lines too. inspect them for cracks or bullbles. maybe even have someone operate the brakes while you inspect them.

Thanks for the input... I'll check your suggestions and I'll let you know what I find. But it might be a while since I only drive it on my days off, so it might stay in the garage for a bit.
