How can I tell?

I just made a deal with a company in California on a 3S-GTE for my 2. I have already put my deposit down and have first pick on their load coming from Japan in the next few weeks. How can I tell the difference (visually) between the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen motors? I need to know because I have a locked in price no matter what clip it is. HELP ME OUT!

I guess nobody has any clue! I would imagine that there would be something on the block to indicate what kind it is, but I don't know what the different generations will read. SOMEONE HELP!

Thanks! That just gave me an easy way to tell them apart. All I should have to do is check the turbo. If it is a CT-20 turbo, than it is a gen3. If it is a CT-26 than it should be a gen2 or gen1. Thanks again for the reference mr2blackna.

I thought that the CT20 was used in old Toyota engines? Is this information correct!?
