I haven't heard of or know of any mods for the throttlebody itself.
There is a write up here about using the throttlebody from the Infinity Q45. I can't remember if it's 60mm or 70mm. The info is here somewhere.

You can get a straight thru throttlebody inlet to replace the tappered stock one for more flow.
It's the red piece on my engine:

As noted above, most people swap out for a Q45 or Mustang 5.0 throttle body. But if you are at a stage where you need a bigger TB, you shouldn't be using the stock plenum anyway.

The "straight" throttle body inlet is only needed on early gen2 3SGTEs. Later gen2 and gen3 have a straight inlet from the factory.

Thank you sir. Good info! That's the problem though, every time I come here I see or read something way better!! It's killing me!
These guys cars and engines are sweet looking. I've had mine garaged since 94 and it looks it, except the engine compartment that is. Now that the engine is out I feel I need to keep up with the Jones's here. OUCH!! I have a low tolerance for pain in my older years.
Donno I can do it anymore.

I'm going down the same path that you are... I don't know why I care so much about the engine bay, especially since I don't hang out with car people and nobody but me ever sees it.

I need to correct myself here. The gen3 does have a straight TB inlet, but it also has a redesigned throttle body with a much shorter inlet. The early gen2 engines (91-92) had the tapered inlet while the 93+ gen2s had a straight inlet.

So this upgrade is only applicable to the 91 and 92 3SGTE.

Thank you, I'll be honing in on one soon.

I've been reading a lot about these big bore TB's off of Q45 being fitted to the 3SGTE intake. I haven't yet been able to find anything to read that describes in detail, any engine management issues that need to be corrected when doing so.
Is the throttle position sensor different or swappable?
Anyone have any ideas or knowledge to share on this subject?
What happens to the engine management system when people remove the air flow meter inside the stock air cleaner housing in order to use an after market air intake?
Sorry for the 20 Q's!
