Power Locks Issue

Alright guys, i have a power lock issue.

1.From the outside, by turning the key, when i lock the car, the passenger side with lock both doors, but the driver side will not.

2.The switches inside the car will lock both doors regardless driver or passenger side.

3.If both doors are locked from the passenger side, when i try to open it from the driver side, an alarm comes on.

I've narrowed it down to the Driver side lock itself, possibly a loose connection, seeing how the motor works and everything. Has anyone ever had this issue?

It would help if you post what year model MR2 you're talking about.

Ohh..I love mysteries....
Ok Mr Bow here's how I'd approach this problem.

Pop the drivers door and confirm the levers and the mechanical parts of the drivers door keylock are connected and funcitoning and not binding, disconnected or broken connection clips are fractured.

Then I would investigate the power relay in each door. Take the pass door panel off and actuate the keylocks from the outside and see if the relays move the solenoids (motors).

You can confirm the solenoids are indeed functioning by applying battery voltage to the wires going to the solenoids themselves. They either work or not, real simple.

I believe with a little logical deduction you will be able to ascertain if the problem lies with the relays or the soleniods. Replace as neccessay.

Have fun, you can do it, it's not Rocket Scientist stuff.

Oh, I solved the issue weeks ago. I found out that there was no switch on the driver's side.

Theres a switch that'll activate the power locks. (to lock or unlock)...On the passenger side there was a switch, but none on the driver side. So i just moved the switch over seeing how that i'd never go on the passenger side .And that way, if someone were to get my keys and go to the passenger side to unlock the doors, it'll set off the alarm, lol.
