Alternator for AUS MR2

Hi,

I'm looking at replacing my Alternator.

According to http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_E_199...MZFQ_1903.html my alternator number is 27060-74250. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a replacement!

I've done some research and apparently the alternator cross-references with:
100211-8380
100211-8440
27060-74170
LRA1407

(According to a Ebay source ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-MR2-ALT...01136001r12226))

I was wondering if 27060-74170 was the same as the 74250. The 74170 is from a 1990.01-1992.01 - 3SGTE.. SW20.. CND - 12V 80A.
By the looks of it... the Canada ones are 80A and the USA ones are 70A, Australian is 80A aswell.

The 80 amp alt is for the automatic. I bought one and everything was exactly the same as my original OEM except for where the bolt lockdown for the tensioner aligns with the slot in the bracket. So I returned it and bought the 70 amp from the dealer. When I got it, it was exactly the same as the 80 amp I returned. So I went ahead and modified the slot on the bracket to line up with the bolt hole on the alternator. It works fine. But what a fracken hassle.

We triple checked the numbers and made calls to Toyota Warehouses in Texas and California- and it was the correct part!

When you refer to Automatic, do the Amps change or the actual dimesions/alignments change aswell? Reason I ask is because some alternators say w/ power steering or w/out PS, mine currently has no PS but I want to get it in the future. Just wondering if that makes a difference to the alternators? I'm looking at getting a 145+Amp alternator so if it's just the change in Amps then it's fine, if it's the dimensions and alignments then I've got a problem. I also know the turbo alternators are higher than standard ones.

I won't be putting the alternator in myself (that's why I haven't taken out the old alternator too double check the pins and part number), I'll be getting a mechanic to put it in while he does some other things on my car. I just don't want him to turn around and say nah he won't put it in cause it doesn't fit and he doesn't want to modify anything.

Edit: I read that different revision models have different alternators, some have 3pin round while others have 4pin oval?
Edit2: Revision 3/4/5 (oval plug) 90 amps
Revision 1/2 (round plug) 70,80,90 and 100? amps

Supposedly, only the amps were different and the housing was the same. From my experience, the housing for both the 70 and 80 amp housing were the same, but both with the same " not fit exactly right" issue.
I tried 4 different parts stores and they all gave me the same part number.

This is the part # from the OEM Alt. I got form the dealer

I'm looking at getting this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOYOT...Q5fAccessories

It's 130A 3 Pin Round Alternator.

Recon it'd be alright? fit in?

From the picture, it looks just like the O'Rielly's one and the OEM I just installed a couple of weeks ago.

To me they all look the same, apart from the 3pin round and oval connections. And when I ask them if it'l fit my 74250 they say they haven't heard of it and it doesn't come up on their books.

Will they take it back if it doesn't fit?

Just rang my local Toyota dealer. They confirmed that the part number 74250 is the correct part number for my car. A new alternator is going to cost AUD$960!! So that is out of the question, I knew it would be expensive but I just wanted confirmation that the part number is correct.

Rang a couple place which recondition alternators but it's ~$300 and no warranty.
