ok, i ordered a t3/t4 turbo with a 46 or 48 trim(cant remember), hks hiper muffler, hks fuel cut defencer, greddy profec b spII, wr adjustable fuel press regulator, apex s-afc, autometer boost guage, basically everything the primer said i needed. the exhaust for the muffler, downpipe, adapter plate, and intercooler piping will be a custom job. can i still run 15 psi with steel intercooler piping as my only intercooler mod? i dont have the money for the upgraded i/c yet, but later on, i will get either a good fan or water spray injection. i plan on running about 12-13 psi normally, but im hoping i can run 15-16 psi with this setup at short bursts, aka, a street race or drag race. also, i know you get this alot, but what times can i expect to run in the 1/4 mile? i have intrax lowering springs as my only suspension mod. i dont plan on dragging the car, so i was wondering what kinda times id expect if i did. also, from a roll(turbo already spooled) should the car be pretty quick?i was wondering if the tires will spin when the turbo spools, cause i have stock wheels and 215's in the rear. i know i need to replace them, but i was wondering if driveability would be ok till i get the money for the wheels and tires.
you should expect around 300 hp give or take a few hp maybe high 12's low 13's? depends on where you are. and i dont know if your tires will spin on a roll MRQ has t3/t4 set up he might know.
but hope my info helped.
u should be able to run 15psi no probs...but just keep in mind...the stock IC will heat soak after one or two hard runs...with some decent driving...u should be in low 13s....i have problems hooking the car sometimes...i'll spin in 2nd and 3rd before it hooks....invest in a decent set of tires when u have the money....u'll also need a clutch very shortly...OEM one won't hold up too much abuse....
that low 13, that was on street tires, or slicks? also, ive heard that you shouldnt powershift an mr2. why is that, and what do YOU call powershifting. i think its shifting without lettin off the gas, but other ppl define it as shifting quickly. another thing ive heard is that the mr2 tranny is pretty strong, but you cant race them with slicks. a stronger clutch should help bring the time down as well, right? im sure the oem clutch has to slip at least a little, even if you cant tell. oh yeah, ive heard ppl say that their stock turbo mr2 will squeal the tires when shifting into second gear, but mine doesnt do that at all, even with small tires. does that mean there is a problem, like maybe the engine is really worn? it doesnt smoke or anything. i wouldnt imagine it doin it anyway, since the engine is in the back, but then again , the previous owner put on a blitz bov
power shifting to me...is never letting off the gas...any tranny is weaker when ur using slicks.....the traction they give puts much more strain on tranny and axles unlike regular street tires...a stronger clutch will allow u to launch the car harder...and shift faster...which would equal lower ETAs......
how is the condition of ur motor??....do u do regular maintenance on it??....is ur car stock??....how much boost are u running??...
the whole car only has 70k miles on it. the previous owner did regular maintenance on the vehicle as far as i know. i mean, he loved the car. he bought it will 453 miles on it in 95 and had it ever since. the car is stock except for aem adj cam gears(not adjusted as far as i know. i think he had them put on but never messed with them), tanabe exhaust with a rust hole on the elbow before it goes into the muffler, and a drop in k&n filter.
I have a T3T4 .48 trim and made 308 RWHP @ 20 psi of boost ... that was with water injection (not a water sprayer), a GREddy intercooler with dual SPAL fans, completely straight exhaust and race gas. Hope that helps.
With my car tuned, I can run mid12s-high12s on street tires @ 15-16 psi.
If you are tuning with an SAFC, you better looking into getting an adjustable FPR: www.trueleo.com/fpr.htm
