turboing a 5sfe

i have the 5sfe engine and i have bought pretty much everythig i need to turbo it. but what i need to know is how much boost can i safely run since the car is my daily driver, and do i need to upgrade my injectors or will the be able to pump enough gas, also will the injectors from a 3sgte work on my car?

I would never turbo the 5SFE, that engine just is not designed for boost.
I have seen some run ok for a few weeks ... and I have seen one blow up within 20 minutes.

If that is your only car and your needed transportation, I think you are rolling some serious dice.
The success stories of turboing 5SFEs are not many, but there are many busted 5SFE's form failed projects.

I am truly sorry if I am raining on your parade, but I would rather warn you before hand than see you sitting without a ride.

Regardless of what you decide to do, I wish you good luck.

ceracer33 how much did you spend on the needed turbo materials???
I've also been lookin in to building a turbo, but i was thinkin about using parts directly from the MR2 first, then upgrading parts after everything was running smoothly.

Another idea would be the super charger from RIPPMODS in Ny.
it's costly but already tested, so you know it's good to go!

But that is true there's only a hand full that have successfully built a turbo for the 5sfe and use them for dailys.

You could buy my 5SFE engine just so you have an another for backup if the boosting project does not go as planned. Let me know if you are intrested.

I dun agree... Shook has a superchargered 5s-fe camry and hes fine with it. Meisner has a turboed camry and he is fine with that too. 5s-fe can be turboed but i just started to look at the mr2 forum today so i dont really know turbo options for the mr2
