Lightbulb Toyota 2013 MRS Model.

6/2010 Motor Trend magazine (trends) editor Peter Lyon describes a new 4WD hybrid labeled the MRS to be produced as early as the 2013 season.

Was wondering if anyone has heard anything of this car, it's design and possible reference to the MR models. Or perhaps seen anything like this a Auto Show?

Would you drive a sporty MR with 4WD?

Hmmmm, first I've heard of something like that. Would be sweet if they came out with something like that.

It seems like there was mention of this in Toyota News at one time. Didn't seem to create alot of enthusiasism .
An well balanced AWD with alot of HP, torque would probably be a kick to drive.

1st of all, it wouldn't be 4WD, it would be AWD which in Toyota-ese would be All-Trac.

2nd, that exact formula= Lamborghini.

I hope All-Trac is an option, MR layout is awesome as it is.

rear wheels are engine driven.
front wheels are ELECTRIC driven.
no manual transmission option.

and being that its AWD, that makes it no longer an MR2.
Mid-engine
Rear-wheel drive
2 seater

it makes it an MA2
Mid-engine
All-wheel drive
2 seater

quite honestly, this car does not 'sing' to me. i want my rear wheel drive, i want my manual transmission, and do NOT want a hybrid powerplant.

MR2 stood for mid-engined runabout 2-seater. Drive wheels are a non-issue.

Regardless, Toyota has never brought back a name after they've discontinued it's use (to my knowledge), I doubt they would start now.

The MR2 is dead.
