Canada 1991 - 1998 engine mounts

Hi there,

I have a 1991 toyota mr2 n/a! i want to swap it with the 2.0L turbo, but want the 94+ engine because i want the extra 20hp. my question is, would the engine mounts line up? is it possible to do that or should i stick with the 91 engine and have 20hp less.

thank you

They bolt up, but good luck finding a '94. And they actually have 40 more hp, which you could easily get from a '91 with just a boost controller and freer flowing intake and exhaust.

it is a completely redone motor setup with a better head, tune, ect. But if you want to look for one then i would suggest buying a clip from either MR2warehouse or chico race works . Here are the links

both of these guys are highly reputible on the mr2 forums!

I believe that the second link, MR2 warehouse, is known as the "traveling mr2 mechanic" and will install the motors for a very reasonable rate.

The motors are essentially the same, the one you want, known as the Gen3, has a re-designed head which flows more; they also have larger lift and duration cams, toyota dropped the hair dryer of a ct26 turbo and upgraded to the ct20b; they do not use an AFM, it was changed to run off the MAP sensor only, and the injectors were upgraded from 440cc to 540cc. I believe that the intake manifold also had a few changes, but once you upgrade the turbo it is still a bottle neck!
