SW20 Scraping

Hi,

I've got a SW20 and it sounds like it's scraping on something even on small bumps on the road. First I thought it was the plastic coverings under the car (near front bumper) because they were broken from when we had big storm and up to my radiator was under water, so the water pushed down on the plastic and broke it. So anyway, I thought maybe they were rubbing against each other or the body. So I've taken the broken plastics off and tighten the rest back up to the body (now they hardly move).

So driving along again and that scraping starts again. So this time I check the Tyres to see if it's scraping on anything. I put full wheel lock on, It just touches the plastic wheel guards with full lock (I can see that it's ripped part of the plastic)

I've got:
Front - Yokohama ES100 - 215/40ZR17 83w.
Back - Toyo - 215/45ZR17 91w.
Rims - Speedy (not sure which).
These to me don't seem huge, so I don't get how they scraping on the guard. What does everyone else have? Then I thought maybe the rim itself is bent or something?? I don't know much about wheels so I don't know what happens to them. On the outter part of the tyres it kind of looks like it rubbed on the wheel arch on top but the gap between the tyre and arch seems pretty big.

So next comes my suspension, by the looks - they look stock, it's covered in crap. I thought suspension straight away because being a 1990 with original suspension seems like the culprit to me. But as I push on the car, on the struts I can't hear any scraping sound, even had mechanic have a quick look, he said it is a bit bouncy but thats it.

Any hints? are my tyres alright?

I'll try to get a pic if I can and post it.

Its probably the tires scraping. My SW20 had an issue with tires scraping the fender covers and it was because of the wheels i had on there were not the right offset for the car. I got new wheels of the same size but different offset and it helped.

The front on mine used to rub the plastic covering under the wheel wells in a sharp turn-like when backing out of the driveway. I removed the wheel, got my propane torch and gently heated the plastic and pushed it forward till it cooled. It held its shape and no more scrape.

What is the offset of the wheels mounted? If you remove the wheel it will be on the back maybe on a spoke, or by the lug holes...it will say something like +40 or +38, it's going to be a + then a number
