I just looked at this 91 MR2 Turbo today. It's in pretty decent shape. It has 138k miles on it. The front bumper & hood have plenty of road rash from rocks. It's never been in a major accident & all body panels are original. There are a few door dings on the right rear behind the door but other than that the sheet metal looks good. The interior is in good condition other than a small tear on the right side of the driver's seat. The engine was rebuilt at a Toyota dealer 20k miles ago. It has a TRD exhaust & TRD short shifter. All maintenance records are complete & with it. The tires are too small & need to be changed. The windshield, battery & radio ant are all new. The control for the interior air temp control is broken & the speedo is way off. It reads 35-40 mph when I was doing around 60 mph. It drove well & was smooth with good power. The t-top seals look good & look like they have been replaced. The previous owner worked at Toyota & kept all the receipts for work done.
They are asking $7950. What do you all think?

Are you sure it's a '91 ? It's got '94 tail lights on it. Unless it was upgraded.
Looks to be in good shape externally.
Any shots of the engine bay?
$7950.00 is kinda high.
It does have the 94 tails, I forgot to mention that. I forgot to take pics of the engine bay, it was dirty & needs detailing bad. What is a good price for it? Thanks!

Well, going by what you stated, if all the records are there-including detailed proof of engine rebuild and without seeing the engine bay or driving it, I would say $5,500.00-$6K.
Here is a picture of the engine bay...... I talked to him today & offered him $5k, he came back at $6k so I'm going to think about it. One of the things bugging me is how far off the speedo is & how many miles the car really has.

They called today & said they would go down to $5k. I din't think they would go that low so now I have to decide if I'm going to pull the trigger or not.

Thats more like it!
Whatya gonna do, whatya gonna do ?
It's killing me since I don't need another car. I should just put the $5 in my Roth IRA but it would be nice. I'm just not sure.

For several years, I had my 4x4 Tacoma, '91 Turbo and '01 MR2 Spyder. After car payments, maintenance, insurance, tires for 3, modding, keeping gas in all of them, I decided, I just didn't need 3 vehicles.
I got rid of the Spyder.Didn't really want to, but I think it was the smart thing to do.
Food for thought.

How come the Mk2 won out over the Spyder? I ask because I've been considering adding a MR-S to the fleet.
And on that note, I've currently got my MR2, a Corolla, a Celica, a CRX, a Dodge van, and a Samurai... I couldn't give any of 'em up. I'm not a rich man but I've kept it reasonable by doing all my own work, hunting down deals, and opting for minimal insurance.
I'm sure my neighbors wouldn't mind if I didn't fill the 'hood with beaters though.
On the subject of this specific car... buy it. It's Nautical Blue Metallic, the best stock color for the early mk2s (with apologies to Steel Mist Gray lovers)

Well, I had a couiple of peaves about the Spyder:
No trunk and very little storage in the 2 compartments in the back of the seats.
Hard to get in and out of.
Bad blind spots on both rear quarters when the top was up.
I'll admit it was fun to drive and an eye catcher. But I did HAVE to make a decision about letting a vehicle go.
The Nautical blue seems to be very rare color. I've never seen one.
You have 6 vehicles?

Thanks for the feedback. I think I should just restrict myself to the mk2.
