No sparks from igniter
The engine on my 89 MR2 keeps shutting down after running for 15-20 minutes and won't start again until the engine cools down 30 minutes later. I replaced the original ignition coil with an Accel ignition coil last year and it seems to be running with out shutting down. However, I have it parked in garage all winter and this summer the problem came back. The engine shutdown again after it gets hot. I tested the igniter and there was no sparks. Thought the igniter was bad so I bought a new one, put it in and start up fine. After 20 minutes the engine shuts down again. Test for sparks and there are no sparks coming from the igniter either. Is it possible that all three ignition coils are bad? Even with the new one I just bought? It doesn't make any sense. If the coil is bad and not sending sparks when it gets hot, the car should start up fine when I replaced the coil with a second coil that is cold. But it didn't. When the engine got cut off, it doesn't matter which coil I put in, there are no sparks. Seems to me like the issue is with either electrical some where else or a sensor that cuts off the engine when it gets hot. The sparkplug wires are also brand new. Anyone has any ideas what's going on? Please help.
