1zz turbo or swap 2zz?

Hey guys new to the site. I've done lots of research but I'm still having trouble finding a definite answer to my question. I'm thinking about buying an mr2 spyder and I definitely want to push near 250~300whp. I'm not some noob that claims retarded power I'm being serious. I'll have the money here come december and I love the mr2 spyder. But what i want to know is should I leave in the stock 1zz or swap in a 2zz for a turbo application. Also as far as the transmission I know the 5speed would be better than the 6 speed sequential setup for turboed applications but can the stock tranny hold 300whp or is there a different tranny that would bolt up to hold it? Any advice or help is much appreciated.

I used to have a '01 Spyder. I would turbo the 1zz.
The stock tranny can handle the power , with the proper clutch upgrade.

awesome the answer i was looking for and i assume you ment to type '01, do you think its safe to push around 15psi on stock internals or stick to more around 12psi, I've seen 12psi done so I know that's safe.

Oooops, yes, '01.(edited)
I had already started building mine until I found this '91 in pretty shape. So all the money started going to the '91.
It's all about tuning as far as boost goes. But I think if I was going to go above 12 psi, I would be using forged internals.
But again, it's all about proper A/F ratio, ignition timing and charge cooling.

A turbo'ed Spyder would be a blast to drive!

My '01 with my '91 in the background.

ADR's. I don't remember what they were called.
Check out MonkeyWrenchRacing. They have a bunch of stuff for the Spyder.

I got rid of the Spyder in '06.
Though it was lightly modded and a kick to drive, I like the 2gen much better.
BUT! If it had the HP/TQ the '91 has, I would still have it.
