jdm tail lights

does anyone know how difficult it is to convert early sw20 tail lights to '94+ or JDM? i hear u have to do some drilling, is that true? any instructions or advice would be appreciated. are there any other tail light options other than the newer ones? thanks.

it is an easy swap..should not take u longer then 1/2 hour if u have some what basic mechanical knowledge.....this may help....
http://www.mr2.com/TEXT/91to94taillight.html

the only difficult part was making room for the new reverse lites...when u remove the pre-94 honey comb center piece..u have to take a mallet and pound some room in the metal behind it to fit the new reverse lites....don't bang out too much space...

how much should i expect to pay for 94+ OEM or JDM? i don't really wanna go to the Toyota dealership to buy because i hear it's very pricey. also, the only difference between JDM and 94-95 US is the amber side light, rite?

look to pay around 350-400 for the entire kit....u will only find them at toyota dealerships cuz nobody else carries them in stock...the amber corner piece is jdm and while usdm got red ones....also if u use the 94 wire harness....they light up differently too...both circles will light up when u brake...or vice versa..i forget....

i hear that if u swap out the lights from the 94+ tails and put them into the original pre-94 harness and housing, then there is no need to make cuts or pound in the back of the mr2 to make the larger back-up light fit. all that needs to be done is cut a few wires here and there.

most cars.....u will have to make room for new reverse lites because they sit in where the "honeycomb" center is...the pre-94 reverse lites are in the lamp housings on either side....the only splicing u'll need to do is to extend the wires for the reverse lites...u can use the old harness.....straight plug and play.....only use the 94 wiring harness if u want it to light up like i mentioned above.....

Those "Altezza" style lights are only suppose to be released this month. They're produced by ToyoShop in the Netherlands. You may have seen them on Rogue System's website also, though they're not really their own Revision6 brand - those are also different.

See www.revision6.com. I resell everything they offer here, but only in batches, as importation is expensive.
