it wont be cheap to do a conversion like that....and u prolly won't even be able to find anyone withing the gta to take on such a project unless u had tons of money to offer them....this conversion has been done by a handful of ppls in the states....IMO...ur better off just buying a SC MK1 and work on building more power from it....or better yet....get a turbo mk2....

i say forget the mki and just go with the mk2 turbo. the mki is significantly lighter and is a blast to drive, but it just doesn't have the torque that the turbo has to offer. also, the 4-a engine isn't the sturdiest engine around, it'll cost too much to make a SC mki to run really fast.

Darkkid, I know there is a mechanic that works at Lexus Toyota at Erin Mills. He has a white MKI and is in the process of putting a 3sgte in it. He told me that he has to do a few modification to fit the engine in there.

Carl Crawford put a 3.8 liter SC Buick motor in his MK1. Not that I'd personally do that. Mine is a 3.0 liter Camry 1MZFE swap into my MK2.

The 3SGTE is a great swap for the MK1, but remember that you add a bit of weight over the 4AGZE setup.

Also, I will tell you from personal experience, a V6 swap requires a LOT of fabrication and engineering work to pull it off well.

for what its worth i own both cars discussed in this thread,a 3vz-fe powered V6 mk1 and a 3s-gte powered mk1... and i can say the V6 wins hands down on sound alone, the turbo is mighty quick but needs winding up,whereas the v6 has buckets of torque from the word go,id say v6 it.

Well now! Nobody asked about SOUND now did they? I've been told numerous times that my car sounds like a Ferrari. Beats me, but I'll take that.

Yes, it's an N/A. It IS a 3.0 liter V6 though. Does that matter?

I've been watching your buildup for ages, can't wait to see the vids.

Don't forget about Bill Strong over at the MR2 Club Msg board and his Northstar V8 powered MKI.

I would go for a V6 though, since it has a flatter torque curve and no turbo lag. It's kinda like the S/C feeling ... instant power.

Do the MK1.5 coversion and drop in the 3S-GTE. My freind Dan that lives down here did it, it worked out pretty damn good.

Yup. That guy works with my friends dad. His son used to have a 3SGTE powered Corolla sedan, which was wrecked after someone hit it while it was parked. I guess he found a new home for the 3SGTE

If I can get a 3SGTE for a good price then I'm going to do this swap. I've already got a B6T powered Festiva which required custom mounts, shift linkage, etc, which was all designed by me. I don't think the Mk1.5 should be that hard.
