My Mr2 build is complete

After tuning Friday and Saturday, with some rain friday, my mr2 is currently tuned at 15psi. I don't have dyno numbers yet because the car was street tuned; I am going to buy dyno time and we can properly tune the car, its hard to know where the motor stops making power and at what boost the turbo is out of efficiency when street tuning. Tuning took quite a while because we were getting a lot of boost creep; but I have the AEM boost sylenoid which is controlled through the EMS so by changing the duty cycle at various rpm's we were able to almost eliminate that, it's now only gaining .5psi of boost from 5200-7000; as compared to 6psi through the same rpm before adjusting duty cycle!

I will post pics and videos soon, the weather isnt being very cooperative...

To be honest I am kind of dissapointed with the car; I was expecting more We used a calculation on RC's website and based on fuel pressure, and duty cycle of the injectors its making about 300whp. That number is purely a calculated number and is nothing to stand by, but my buddy drove it and said it is without a doubt making more than 300whp. Its odd for me to say this but I've driven numerous built 300-600whp civics and most of them felt they had more torque, and they felt quicker than my car. What can play a role in that is the fact that almost all of those cars just spun the tires and my car hooks in second gear and only spins a little in first!

No videos yet, but I took some pictures tonight when I put it away

Build:

JE .020 over pistons
Eagle H-Beam rods with ARP fasteners
Head rebuilt with all new toyota parts
Engle Valve Springs
Gen3 cams(I really want to change that)
Full Race ramhorn ex manifold
Tial 44mm WG-vented to atmosphere
Precision 3431E Turbo
Apexi side mount IC(going A2W hopefully over winter)
DRT intake manifold-shortened the runners 1" and built custom plenum
Sard 800cc injectors
2.5" IC pipe
3" downpipe
Apexi GT-Spec exhaust
AEM EMS
AEM Boost Sylenoid
Accufab 75mm throttle body

I think that's it...Doesnt seem like much for how much it cost to build...

Hoping to bring it to the dyno next weekend

The more I drive it the better it feels...If it doesn't make at least 400wheel on the dyno I'm upgrading turbo over winter. I was building a car that would be quicker than viper's/ferrari's/lamo's/ZO6's but I don't think I have that right now...If I upgrade Im going with a Borg Warner s362

Purdy! What is the tubing/fitting coming off the IC pipe just before the intake?
And are those ground wires for each plug wire?
As for not seeming like much for what it costs, it really is alot.
Dyno #'s will be interesting.

Thank you!

Do you mean the sensor right by the Throttle Body? if so, that's the Intake Air Temp sensor.

The plug wires I have are Nology hot wires which have built in capacitors, don't know if it helps with anything, but it's all I have

Hmm.. interesting. Capacitors store energy, don't they?
Kinda like a buffer.(?)

Heatsoak cruising it does a great job and with about an outside temp of 60deg the AEM was showing high 90's when cruising...but with a 3rd gear pull from ~1k-7500rpm it went from the high 90's all the way up to high 120's...

They store energy and can release a greater charge of collected energy
If I have extra dyno time I want to swap the wires and check dyno differences between the nology and factory wires

You really need a heatshield on the header. You might also want to look into rerouting the coldpipe more along the lines of the stock one but since you're going A2W soon you can address it then. You might look into methanol injection as an alternative or in addition.

Nice build! I'm jealous... and interesting in your gen3 cams if you upgrade this winter.

I know that the cold charge pipe gets very close the the ex manifold, it's about 3/4" I think I am going the heat wrap the manifold if I continue using that pipe. There really isn't any other way to run those pipes because the manifold comes so close to the engine lid...

And do you mean interested in the gen3 cams if I upgrade?
