Alarm goes off at the odd times

Hi guys & gals,
I have a 1997 MR2 T bar, the alarm just started going off after all this time, does it have its own battery, could this be the problem,
arrived back at the house, got out the car, alarm goes off, could not switch it off, it reset itself and went off again, done this several times in a row, dont know if this has any bearing or just coincidence but had a new windscreen fitted 5 or six hours before this happened,
any help would be appreciated,

is this the factory alarm or aftermarket alarm??....it sounds like u have a faulty relay or switch that is triggering the alarm...
