The 5sfe is a sturdy iron block like the 3sgte , only .2 bigger.
The down fall of the 5sfe is the head. It is an economy head.
The 3sgte head has coolant jackets to deal with the extra heat from the intake charge , seperate cams that can be adjusted independantly for upgrading to higher lift, longer duration cams.
I don't know of any aftermarket performance cams for the 5sfe head.
And, there isn't much aftermatket perfomance suport for the 5sfe.
But the 5sfe block, with the 3sgte head, turbo set up, the 440cc 3sgte injectors, fuel rail,FPR, turning the 5s crank to accept 3sgte rods, 3sgte ECU, IC and IC piping, intake and exhaust manifold, throttlebody, will give you a beast!
And from that point, very upgradable.
If I had an N/A MR2, thats the route I would go.
