aite guys. does anyone know much about the potential of Hondas? can a Mk2 MR2 turbo with bolt-ons run along side an integra LS/Vtec turbo (probably running 6-7psi)? my guess is an integra LS/Vtec turbo @6-7psi is probably in the 190-200hp range. this is a better comparison than supra vs. mr2...that was bogus.
i don't think there is no way in that a ls/vtec turbo engine with 6-7 psi could be running 200 hp range. Correct if i'm wrong tho.... i think the mr2 will win but i have never been in a turbo-ed integra also, so.... i have no idea.
honda's have a lot of potential. there is a turbo civic in new zealand with 306kw (about 400+hp) at the front wheels. it's running a b18c which is the integra type r engine from memory, with a lowered compression ratio, forged internals, a garrett t4/45 turbo just to name a few.
so yeah, the honda has a quiet a bit of potential so they are not to be under estimated.
however, a mk2 mr2 turbo (mr2 gt-s) also has potential, but it depends if you are just gonna compare power output, handling, bang for your buck value etc.

boosted hondas can give mr2s a good run....especially if its a stock mr2....but the only problem with the hondas.....fwd....no traction....they can make the power...but can't lay it down....i've seen some pretty fast boosted hondas...but many of them are running 'teg motors in a civic platform....many of these cars are pretty quick on the streets.....but at the track...w/o slicks....they aren't going nowhere.....
on semi slicks, even slicks, i've heard integra type r-s can really handle, they can out handle more powerful rwd cars on corners, but they loose it in the straights

a buddy of mine has a 92 civic hatch with a turbo set up i think running 8 or a bit more not sure. he ran a 13.9 at 4300 ft above sea level. its true they have no traction FWD sucks.
the ls motor is a b18 series...i believe only 140hp in ls form. but with vtec, i think it might be around 150-160, much like the b16 from a civic Si. turboed...i'm sure it's not running on much boost as most hondas can't without upgraded internals, maybe 6-7psi. so like approx. 7hp to each psi, i think it should be relatively close to 200hp turboed. i think that the lighter weight might give my mister2 a run for my money...hehe. but then again, a type r integra w/ 200hp runs high 14's to low 15's.
My bro's Integra was pushing around 190hp and it wasn't turbo'd. He had a LS Bottom End (bored out) and a JDM Civic SI top end w/ V-TEC. Plus he had exhaust, cold air intake, headers, pistons, rods, cams.... all those goodies... probably some others. My point being... a Integra Turboed should be pushing out more than 200hp.
yeah a stock ls/vtec is about 175-180 hp, with turbo with low boost, id say it would be doing around 250 on a fwd?just buy a boostcontroller for the mr2 and the teg is GONE. oh ya, i own a teg so i would know

an ls/vtec is hardly a stock motor. there are some many contributing factors, ie. the head, the install, the tuning, the CR, the internals, etc. so say youre putting down between 150 and 200whp...but if you throw another $200 at the mr2, and i doubt its a race. im sure theres a lot of lsvtecs that could smoke a lot of mr2s, but there are a lot of mr2s that could smoke a lot of ls/vtecs.
then you say a turbo'd ls/vtec, then wouldnt you have to compare that to a 3stge with a t3/t4?....

nevermind fellas. my buddy lied...he didn't really get an ls/vtec turbo. it's a stock gsr. so, would anyone object if i said it would not be a close match? i think the 2 will take it easily. lemme know what you think.
