hey mrQ,
u say that u're making 300rwhp, what is that in time numbers? i mean, what is the best 1/4mi. time u've ever gotten with that set up? how about at the 240rwhp with the ct26? i just want to know b/c 300rwhp is my goal, too. i just want to be sure that 300rwhp is enough to stomp on the local honda and nissan bois. hehe. thanks.
from last yrs test and tune session...running 14psi on pump fuel...with shitty street tires and a crappy trd clutch....best i could manage was 13.40 @ 108 mph (really slow launch-2.2-2.4 60' times and no power shifting).....with my new clutch n tires...and running 20 psi on race fuel...i should be well into the 12s this season....
i had everything that is currently done to my car....it was the first opportunity i had to time it...crappy 60' times and slow shifting......just testing power of the car at the time and seeing the mph.....this season...i should be able to launch the car hard and powershift with a better clutch.....my goal is to hit at least 110 or higher mph to get me deep into the 12s.......all in full street trim.....drive there.....run it....drive it home......
i know that u have a t3/t4. but ur still only running 14 psi and achieving 300rwhp? nice. imaging goin' to 20+psi...u'll be hitting 350+ and into 11's. u know, the evo8 is running 21psi and only at 271hp...that's not even wheel hp.
so, is there an advantage to having the t3/t4 then, if planning to run boost levels that can be reached with the stock ct26? i mean, if u were to put the ct26 back on to ur motor, will the power level still be around 300 if it's running @ the same 14psi as ur t3/t4 is??
if ur still at 14 psi with the t3/t4 and making 300rwhp, then i may go that route too. how do the TD06 and GT25 (HKS i think)compare to the t3/t4? thanks.
14psi on the stock ct-126 is nowhere near the same as 14psi on the t3/t4....the stock turbo is a pea shooter in terms of size comparison....much smaller turbine and compressor wheel...u can't compare the two at all...the ct-26 also loses top end power because max boost u can run is around 16psi before it loses effeciency and is just essentially just blowing hot air.....while the t3/t4 can handle upwards of 20+ psi.....just by my butt dyno....i was running 16psi on my stock turbo...and now running 14psi on the t3/t4....nite and day difference.....the car pulls so much harder and stronger all the way to redline......i would lose traction in 2nd..3rd and even 4th gear with my old tires....
tdo6 and gt-25 are both similar sized turbos compared to my t3/t4....all will produce around the same power given the same mods and tuning....
too many problems with greddy kit...first..boost creep with internal wastegate setups.....2nd...manifold prone to cracking..i wonder if the newer gen kits have reinforced bracing....3rd...pricing....u can get a t3/t4 kit with ext gate from various sources that will cost around the same....greddy may have been the first in the market to introduce a bolt on kit for mr2s...but with all the t3/t4 kits now avail....lots more to choose from....i had more money to spend....i would have gone with a built motor...gt-30 bb and aimed for 400-500rwhp....but wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth....a wood chopstick more like it.....
would u recommend piecing a turbo upgrade or buying a kit? i hear a lot of the stuff included in the kits are not very good, just included to up the cost. i was thinkin of just piecing my own kit, but then again it could be hard if things don't bolt up.
