3gste alltrac mr2?

hiya,
I'm curious if the "alltrac" drivetrain from the celica has ever been put on the mr2, oem, or custom?

just the engine...

the axel wont go to the front, without a custom undercarriage...

UNLESS, you lower the engine and tranny, and run the axel under the car...

then again, you'll scrape the hell out of it, and it'll weigh more than it does now (MKII MR2s arent light...)

Hey guys
I'm new to the forum
I was wondering about the same thing, an AWD mid engine Mr2
but the MKI (since that's the one I have)
I have read about a rally car that Toyota bought with TTE and using a custom gearbox manufactured by Xtrac.
I just salivate at the throught of that, but the price might be too much.
What do you guys think?

its impossible no matter how much you spent, the tranny output shaft faces the wrong way, even if it was somehow "made to face forward it would turn in the wrong direction to drive the front wheels...then the fuel tank would need to be moved, then the steering rack moved...then the chassis chopped and reconstructed at the front to hold the front transmission,to cap it all off the front struts wont allow a drive shaft unless you fitted rear hubs to the front...then they wouldnt steer....oh dear, yep its impossible.

You are right

Yes you are right, impossible if not near. I believe that Toyota just had to made everything from the drivetrain, even the engine is a mistery, custom made. When you think about it, if Toyota didn't even carried out with the prototype, for the group S, no regular guy can even think about doing such feat. Unless one has the bank account of Bill Gates and the intelectual resources to pull it off. But still... mmmmm. mid-engine AWD.....
