I noticed you are in Canada. All my prices are based on USD.
The fuel smell is probably because of an emmisions hose that was not hooked back up (sometimes difficult to get to, and people overlook it). Or one of the lines were hooked up backwards. Both are easy fixes.
Depending on if you need rotors or not, brakes for all 4 wheels can cost anywhere between $60-180. Again, if you need rotors. I suggest you check out
www.rockauto.com . They generally have Brand-name parts that are 30-40% cheaper then your local auto parts store and have great customer service.
And for the catalytic converter. You can just get a 2" OD universal 3 way catalytic converter. Magnaflow makes a nice one that is only $60! And if you get the Universal catalytic converter, all you have to do is take it down to any muffler shop and ask them to install it.
If you go to the right mechanic..everything you have above could be done for $400-500. If you know someone personally that is handy with cars, things like the brakes can be done even cheaper.
And by the way Russ, supercharged wasnt offered until 1987
