Gen1 4age throttle cable.

The throttle cable on my 87 mr2 is damn near worn thru. I was wondering if anyone has changed this before and if they could offer some guidance on how to do it. Much appriciated.

cable runs through the center of the car.... you will have to remove quite a bit to replace the cable..... most stuff on aw11's is really easy to fix... some are a pain in the ass.

because you have to get under the car so much I recommend good, tall, and solid jackstands.

I don't believe it's that hard mate. Start disconnecting the throttle cable at the pedal. Move to firewall in front of the car, disconnecting w/e is in the way. Next jack the vehicle in the air and set on stands, or blocks. You will have to remove the shields from front to back in order to access the cable. The cable is next to the Fuel tank whch is in the middle of the car, just below the console. After disconnecting all underneith, move to the engine compartment. Disconnect the throttle cable from the bracket on top of the vavle covers, done. Install reverse of disconnection. You might consider a new cable, but if you go with a salvage, buy some graphite and sqeeze some into the line if possible. If you don't think that graphite will flow into the cable insulation, then use some silicone liquid wrench sprey. Cheers!
