5s-fe is a turbo or not?

after posting about my exhaust, it was pointed out to me that someone may have possibly been messing around with my mr2 prior to my purchase (different gasket). this prompted me to realize a discrepancy in another aspect of my whip.

can someone clear up whether a 5s-fe is exclusively NA and non turbo? are there any turbo applications for the 5s-fe? i thought it was only for 3s-gte.

so peep this and let me know whats good. either someone swapped the engine or the engine cover...

i figured that, the engine being a 3s-gte, not that the lids were swapped.

well is the engine lid a turbo mr2 lid or a non turbo. You can tell just by the air vents on the top. If they are flush with the lid then its a non turbo. If they are raised vents then its a turbo lid. Simple as that

the lid has slit vents in it (turbo lid), however if you look at the sticker that is on the lid, it says 5s-fe. so are we now assuming that a sticker was slapped on a turbo lid?

No, are the vents raised up from the engine cover, or is the whole thing, vents and all, the same height? Non-turbo lids(which is what it looks like you have) are flat with the vent slits cut in.

If you look in the "post pics pf your mr2" sticky up top, I'm sure you'll find some. It's pretty easy to see the difference. IMO, the turbo lid looks a little better, but not so much that I feel compelled to buy one.

Check the VIN to see if the car was turbo originally. Local dealership can look it up.
