cooling

is the fan next to the intercooler supposed to be running? i think it's a pull since in the inside. is it supposed to run on it's own or does it only operate when the car is in motion? i notice that mine doesn't run when idling so i'm just curious.

the engine bay area gets really hot. im thinking of getting some upgraded fans. what are some good brands? i thind spal makes some good ones, but i want to shop around for the best pricing and performance. thanks.

There's a temp sensor mounted to the engine lid that monitors the engine bay temperature. The sensor wires into the Fan ECU that controls the fan.

If you disconnect the temp sensor, which is plastic and has a pointed end on it, the fan should come on. If it does not run, the light on the dash should come on. The ECU can tell if the fan is an open circuit or a short circuit, but it can't tell if it's not turning. It can tell if the current is too high, and if so will turn on the dash light. (A sticking fan will draw too much current.)
