NA versus Turbo. Someone with a lot of experience please weigh in

I was given some pretty solid advice by the guy who has the site: http://mr2info.home.comcast.net/index.html

and he recommended going with a NA model (the 2.2 liter) versus the turbo (2.0 liter), then destroking it to around 2.07 liters, then do some head work by adding more aggressive cams, oversize valves, springs, shimless buckets, and some porting.

Then add a turbo (GTR30R) with a new fuel system, 850cc injectors, a new EMS, intercooler (perhaps a watermist system), 3" - 3.5" exhaust system, and a decent intake.

Anyway, I like the idea of that.

But I'm curious. Couldn't you also bore and stroke the 2.0 liter turbo engine and basically get the same thing? Is there a downside in drivability by going the stroked 2.0 way?

Has anybody done either of these?

The guy on the site (Ricky Benitez) hasn't answered my question about that yet, and it's getting real close to decision time for me, so I thought I'd throw it out there.

The setup he suggested to me is to help me get to my goal of a street drivable, reliable car that can get 400 - 440 hp.

Thanks for the input.

there is less than a handful of ppl within the mr2 community that has made 400+ hp on the 5SFE....theres tons of ppls in 300rwhp....some in 400rwhp...a few in 500+ range.....most are using the 3SGTE as their starting platform.....

Just start with the 3S-GTE, its easier and you dont have to worry about swaps, installs, mounts and wiring.
