How reliable are generation 2 (MKII) Toyota MR2's?

I'm interested in buying a 91-93 mr2 turbo or n/a. The mid-engine, rear wheel drive combo probably makes it a blast to drive but I'm just curious about what to expect out of a car that's almost 20 years old.

they are no more unreliable than any other 20 year old car. Things will need to be replaced. But it all depends on the owner as to how well it was maintained and whether the motor is in good shape or not. Just look for the normal things like oil leaks, abnormal sounding engine noises, ect.
