What should I pay for '91 MR2 turbo?

it's a '91 Turbo MR2 has over 150k on it, owner smoked in it, rotors and pads need replaced, turbo gave out and was sent away for rebuild but got "misplaced" and the cars been sitting for years with out it installed (motor likely needs pulled apart and rebuilt), and the paints faded and chalky needs a new paint job. I offered $1000 but the owner just laughed and said he wanted $5000! I know he's asking too much but I know I'd be pooring some big coin into it so I offered what I thought would be fair.

You'll spend at least 4K just to get it road worthy.On top of what they want for the car.
$1500.00 tops.
But personally, I'd walk away from this one.

I paid $2100 for my 1992 japanese import mr2 turbo. Fully road legal with low mileage. $5000 is crazy.

He is in Ontario, Canada where price of vehicles are generally higher.

Yeah it's a good price. The car isn't perfect it has a couple bad points in the paint work but only the spoiler and engine cover. A good polish and it was a ton better. Engine, suspension, brakes, etc all very good no issues so far.
