power steering is broke ?!?!

i have a '93 MR2 N/A....it just turned over 100k miles and i just had a tune-up done (cap, rotor, wires, plugs, fuel filter). when i got it back from my mech, i had no power steering & the p/s warning light on.
tune-up & p/s going out probably aren't related but what a coincidence! (mech is good but not mr2 experienced) no major mods on it except for weapon r cold air induction.
i've read on the forum that p/s isn't really needed for a light car like the mr2 and i agree. can i keep driving it with the p/s out and not damage something like a pump or something? what's involved in converting from p/s to full-time manual steering ?? i need to know B4 i have to take it to the dealership & probably shell out big bucks !

my MR2 has the same problem, it'll stop working for a few days and suddenly come back. There's no damage at all with not using powersteering though, so I say just keep driving and hope it'll come back soon. Also, you wouldn't get that big of a weight reduction by taking it out completely, so I don't think its worth the trouble

the mr2 doesn't need it.... i have no PS in either my aw11 and my ae92.... in comparison, the aw11 feels like it has PS

and jebus, that must suck to try to work on.... must be just as annoying as i found the a/c to be... has lines running through the whole car in ridiculous ways

disconnect the PS to see how you like it.... if ya like it, commit & remove it all
