cam bearing cap

This is a photo of the underside of the cam bearing cap, intake side, which bolts onto the head of my 1990 SW20 3sgte. My concern is that there is some gouging/pitting/scoring on the surface (where the arrows point to).

Is it possible to have the underside surface of the cap machined, or would you sand back the pitting with fine grit 1000+ paper and fill it with a tiny bit of sealant? Or any other options?

If the scratch has anything protruding above the mating surface, you can light sand it flush with a very fine grit(600 or above)sandpaper.
If its flat, then no worries. It doesn't touch the cam bearing surface.
It's not gonna hurt anything.
