Unhappy I need some help please!!!

hey all

i really need your help, im 18 and am a new driver for my first car i really, really wanted my dream car an MR2 Mk1 but unfortunatly i don't think i can get insured? i only tryed 2 companys today but they both said they wouldn't insure me

would it matter what age the car was? 1986 or 1989 etc etc

i know i must sound like some stupid little kid whos after a fast car, but i must stress im really not if i could get the engine size down then i would but i know that modding the engine would be so expensive & insurers would hate me even more i truely love mr2's have done since i was small & have always wanted one its more the look than the power i couldnt care less about that, in fact its abit of a pain for me.

anyways i really need ur help, can any of you advise me on how i could get myself one of these on the road?

any comments greatly appresiated
thanks for your time!

Find a local insurance agent, somebody that sells many brands of insurance. Somebody will cover you, but it prolly won't be cheap. MR2's are kinda strange handling for such a young age, have you done any type of racing?

I think the insurance issue has to do more with the low vehicle weight and its unpredictable handling... When Two's crash, its usually pretty bad, although the drivers usually walk away. That's why a properly modded 1.8 liter will make it fly. I'd say try and find a 1.6 (hopefully insurance will be less), and gas mileage will be a lot better, I hear those gas prices in the UK are ridiculous. If you find insurance, then read up on how to drive mid-engined cars, and you'll have a blast. I've had mine for 3 years now with no accidents, although those traffic tickets kill me every time. Also, try getting insured through your parents insurance and written up as an occassional driver.. that's what most teens with 2's do here in the states.
