What's up TNers, it's been a long time since I've been on. Anyways, I found that oil was leaking from where the distributor bolted up to the block. The thing is, I couldn't find anything wrong with the distributor that may have caused the leak...the seal is still good. I'm not sure if it needs silicone sealant also.

Secondly, does anyone know how to do 'Timing' ? After taking the distributor off, I'll need to do some timing to get the car up and running again.

Could this leak have affected performance?

any oil leak is not good and should be fixed ASAP.....base timing should be 10 degrees....i think u'll need a timing gun to set ur timing...

how can i use the timing gun, though? i can feel the timing marks on the pulley but i can't see it because another belt is blocking the view.

anyway...i didn't fix the leak...don't know what's wrong with it. i did get a new O-ring for the distributor, but the leak is still there. i'll try again....ARRGGGGHHHHHH!

Has anyone experienced this happening before? if so, give me some advice...

is it normal to have some minute amount of oil leak from the distributor into the rotor cap? is the distributor shot or what??? i don't want to spend lots of $$$ to buy a new one.
